Kolkata: Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM), JU unit, has written a letter to vice-chancellor Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, raising strong objections regarding the neutrality of the investigation committee that was formed to probe the incident on Aug 19 and 20.
ABRSM raised objections against the committee’s chairman, Professor Subha Shankar Sarkar, and presenting officer Abul Hasnat. They alleged that following a High Court order, Professor Sarkar was previously removed from his position in the School Service Commission after his name surfaced in the teacher recruitment scam. On the other hand, the organization claims there are allegations of irregularity regarding Hasnath’s appointment process.
They demanded the dissolution of the current committee and sought a completely independent and impartial investigation comprising retired judges of the Calcutta High Court or the Supreme Court of India and experienced investigating officers.
