Kolkata: Calcutta High Court will hear Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee’s plea seeking permission to travel abroad for eye treatment on Wednesday, after the Supreme Court on Monday directed the HC to dispose of the matter within a week.
Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya asked the additional govt pleader to inform both sides about Wednesday’s hearing.
In multiple cases against Banerjee, the court has granted protection from coercive action while directing the Trinamool general secretary to cooperate with the investigation.
Banerjee’s counsel had sought an urgent hearing on July 20, but the plea was listed in the Aug monthly list. The petition seeks relaxation of conditions imposed in the DJ remark case, under which Banerjee deposited his passport. He requires court permission to travel abroad.
