Bengal appoints Naveen Prakash as 7th Pay Commission chairman

Kolkata: Bengal govt has appointed retired IAS officer Naveen Prakash as the chairperson of the state’s 7th Pay Commission, replacing Atanu Chakraborty, former secretary to govt of India in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, with immediate effect.
The state finance department issued a resolution on Wednesday modifying its July 22 notification that constituted the commission. Apart from the change in chairperson, the commission remains unchanged.
Constituted last week, the 7th Pay Commission has been tasked with recommending a revised pay structure and service benefits for the state govt employees and pensioners.
