Mamata to join CJP-led protest at Jantar Mantar on Mon

Kolkata: Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee will travel to New Delhi on July 27 to join the movement led by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar against the NEET-UG paper leak.
TMC sources said Banerjee was likely to reach the venue by Monday noon and address protesters. “Didi has been in direct touch with CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and spoken with him multiple times,” a party senior said.
TMC maintained that four of its MPs — Sagarika Ghose and Mahua Moitra in particular, along with Kirti Azad and Dola Sen — were meeting the CJP leadership on a daily basis, sometimes even twice a day. “It is only natural that Banerjee will come to Delhi and express her solidarity on the ground,” the senior neta added.
Addressing TMC’s Martyrs’ Day rally in Kolkata on July 21, Banerjee expressed solidarity with the CJP-led movement in New Delhi and said she would soon join the protest.
Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad, which will celebrate its foundation day on Saturday, will take out a rally in solidarity with NEET protesters. It will be held between Paddapukur and Moulali Crossing, for which police permission has been granted.
Banerjee took to social media to reiterate her support for the youth protest. “I have stood firmly with the students and their movement from the very beginning. Their fight is not just for justice in the NEET scam — it is a fight to protect the future of every young Indian,” she wrote.
“The brutal crackdown by Delhi Police on peaceful protesters is deeply disturbing and utterly unacceptable. Students were mercilessly beaten, lathi-charged, fired upon with pellet guns, and subjected to tear gas simply for demanding accountability,” Banerjee added.
“The Prime Minister speaks of zero tolerance towards corruption and promises strict accountability. Yet, CBI stated that it found no evidence against the alleged kingpin in the 2024 NEET paper leak case. Why is it so desperate to shield the education minister instead of answering questions being raised by students?” Banerjee said, adding that “the entire opposition, along with the entire nation, stands firmly with our students and youth”.
TMC sources, however, remained tight-lipped on whether joining the CJP-led movement would be Banerjee’s only scheduled programme in the capital or she will also hold meetings with other opposition netas.
