  • Senior actor Rituparna Sengupta recently showcased her film Goodbye Mountain at Raj Bhavan, where Governor C V Ananda Bose, his wife and a select few guests were witness to the film.

Shot in Wayanad, Kerala, the Indrasis Acharya film is about the reunion of two friends after a long gap. The film also had a special connection with the Governor as he was born in Kerala at a place not very far away from Wayanad.

Talking about the screening at Raj Bhavan, Rituparna said: “I have taken many new initiatives, this is one of them. We had shown my film, ‘Muktodhara’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan to the then President Pranab Mukherjee and his wife and that was another achievement for me. I’m grateful to him for taking out time for this film. He is a culturally attuned person.”

The film, which had English subtitles, was well appreciated by the select audience. Rituparna said language is no more a bar in films, cinema is an emotion. “We wanted to show the Governor how well we have managed to showcase Kerala in the film,” said the actor.

The film has got an invitation to be shown at a French film festival.

Rituparna also plans to screen her next release, Bela, to the Governor. The film is about a woman, who wrote the first book on cooking and was instrumental in starting a programme in Akashwani called ‘Mohila Mohol’.

Director Acharya expressed joy in getting the scope to show it to the Governor. “I am very grateful to the audience that the film is running for the 5th week. I hope I get more opportunities to do good films and show them to people.”

After the film, Governor Bose said, “This is a film which deals with basic human emotions, love and also connects two places I’m intimately connected with, Kerala and West Bengal. I’m happy to see the film here. It is an eye feast and a mind feast, where emotions have been shown very subtly.”
