Kolkata: The peak power demand during Durga Puja is projected to reach a staggering 12,050 MW on Tritiya, marking a significant increase from last year's puja peak demand of 9,912 MW recorded on Chaturthi. This sharp rise underscores the growing scale and grandeur of the festival, which sees millions of devotees and tourists flocking to the state.
Announcing the surge in power demand during the festival, state power minister Aroop Biswas said all utilities in the state were geared to meet the demand and ensure a glitch-free Durga Puja. He oversaw a high-level meeting at the Power Development Building in Salt Lake with key officials from various power utilities including generation and distribution entities to discuss strategies to ensure seamless power supply during the festivities.
