  • The chargesheet submitted by the Kolkata Police in connection with a rape case at a law college in Kolkata stated that the prime accused, 31-year-old Monojit Mishra, had made several videos of the student, including that of the June 25 rape incident, and was blackmailing her with them.

The Kolkata Police filed the chargesheet at Alipore court on Saturday, 58 days after the alleged incident on June 25.

Police have named all four arrested accused — Monojit Mishra, the former TMC students’ wing functionary who was hired by the college on a contractual basis; 55-year-old security guard Pinaki Banerjee; and two students, Zaib Ahmed (19) and Pramit Mukherjee (20) — in the 658-page chargesheet.

All four accused are in judicial custody. According to the chargesheet, obscene videos of the student, who is in her early 20s, were recovered from the mobile phones of Mishra, Ahmed and Mukherjee.

The chargesheet stated that Mishra recorded videos of the woman on June 25, the day of the alleged rape incident, and blackmailed her by forwarding the videos to a friend. He also threatened her to make the obscene videos viral.

The other two accused, Ahmed and Mukherjee, had also filmed the rape through a hole in the wall, where an exhaust fan was supposed to be placed, while the guard locked the gates and went to another part of the college, the chargesheet stated.

The chargesheet stated that the woman’s statements were supported by CCTV footage and telephone tower location data, which confirmed her presence and that of the accused.
