THE KOLKATA Police on Saturday submitted a chargesheet in connection with a rape case at a law college in Kolkata. The move comes within 58 days of the alleged incident.
According to sources, the chargesheet is around 650 pages with statements of over 80 witnesses.
Chief Public Prosecutor Sourin Ghosal told The Indian Express later on Saturday, “It is a foolproof case and we will go for custody trial.”
According to police sources, they have found “corroboration between the complainant’s statement and the evidence found at the spot.”
Monojit Mishra (31), a former contractual staffer at the college and a former TMC students’ wing functionary, security guard Pinaki Banerjee (55), second year students Zaib Ahmed (19) and Pramit Mukherjee (20), who were arrested in connection with the June 25 incident have been named in the chargesheet . The Detective Department of Kolkata Police took over the probe in the from the SIT. The SIT, initially comprising five members and later expanded to nine, will assist the Detective Department in the inquiry.
