  • Trinamul Congress MPs continued to stage demonstrations outside Parliament today to protest against the attack and humiliation of Bengali speaking migrant workers in BJP ruled states.
In its X handle, Trinamul Congress wrote, “The continuous attacks on Bengalis and the deliberate humiliation of Bengal in @BJP4India-ruled states are intolerable and will be resisted at every step.”

The party leaders said, to uphold Bengal’s dignity and protect the rights of the people, the MPs staged a protest outside Parliament, sending a clear message that any assault on Bengal’s identity and its people will be met with fierce resistance.

Meanwhile, the MPs yesterday submitted a letter to the Union minister of Jalashakti, C.R. Patil, expressing Bengal’s grave concern.

The party MPs alleged that despite Bengal’s exemplary progress under the Jal Swapna scheme, where 56% of rural households are getting piped water, the Centre continued to withhold the state’s rightful dues under the Jal Jeevan Mission. The Bengal government has already invested Rs 30,000 crore under the scheme and further work worth Rs 28,000 crore is in progress.

The party leaders alleged that withholding of funds worth Rs 1.93 lakh crores across schemes like MGNREGA, PMAY-Gramin and PMGSY “is a blatant assault on the principles of cooperative federalism”. The MPs urged the ministry to release the pending funds worth Rs 2,525 crores and immediately restore allocations for 2025-26. They said the people of Bengal should not suffer because of the Centre’s political vendetta.
