Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale on Tuesday wrote to the Chief Justice of India (CJI), urging a review of the order on the removal of stray dogs in Delhi-NCR.
"Subjecting defenseless animals to wanton cruelty can never be a solution," Gokhale wrote to the CJI, attributing the crisis to the municipal authorities' failure to implement existing laws.
While acknowledging that managing strays and ensuring public safety is "definitely a matter of concern", the MP argued that the issue "cannot be resolved through arbitrary judicial orders without a broader consultative process.
