‘Parents never disclosed charges before trial court’

Kolkata: Denying the accusations made by the victim's parents before Calcutta High Court against Kolkata Police's probe until the matter was handed over to the CBI, the state on Tuesday submitted an affidavit highlighting that the parents "have not made statements disclosing whether the allegations were brought before the trial court at any stage before the conclusion of the trial or not".
The parents raised questions about the probe, including the delay in sending biological samples for testing, resulting in erroneous results, and the conduct of the autopsy after sunset "in extraordinary hurry to hush up evidence". The affidavit stated that no statement has been made by the parents that the 13 questions raised in the writ petition seeking further probe were raised before the trial court before the conclusion of the trial.
Justice Tirthankar Ghosh listed the matter for hearing on Aug 27 while giving the parents' counsel, Phiroze Edulji, a week to reply to the state's affidavit.
