The Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court sent seven kidnappers to eight days police custody on Monday.
Five persons were arrested by the CBI from Rajasthan on charges of kidnapping a minor girl from Raina rural areas in East Burdwan and two of their aides were picked up from Asansol yesterday. The court also directed the state to ensure the safe return of the rescued girl to her mother’s place in Raina.
The Class IX girl was kidnapped from her village in Raina while she’d gone out to attend her tuition classes on 9 August, 2023. After the state police and the CID failed to find any clue about the abducted girl, the family appealed to the CBI on 16 February, 2024. The CBI finally rescued the girl from Pali in Rajasthan.
