Jalpaiguri: A migrant worker from Falakata in Alipurduar was allegedly murdered in Malappuram district of Kerala last week. A resident of Ward 7 in Falakata town, 37-year-old Abul Hussain worked as a painter in Kottakkal.
Abul's body was recovered from under a culvert. His hands were tied behind his back. Kottakkal Police informed Abul's family about the incident on Friday evening. His father, Amir, and cousin, Moklesh Md, flew to Kottakkal on Saturday and performed Abul's last rites on Sunday after the autopsy. Abul is survived by his wife and two-year-old daughter. He had left Falakata for his workplace on July 27.
Amir said Kottakkal Police informed him that there were no injury marks on Abul's body. Abul's uncle, Aminul Haque, alleged that Abul was tied killed and dumped in a ditch. "The family members of the deceased have suspicions about his death. We are contacting our counterparts there to check," said a senior Bengal police official.
