  • The state cabinet today passed the modified norms of allowing sanctions to small plots today.

As informed by mayor Firha Hakim, the cabinet has passed the new building rules today and the civic body has decided to allow sanction on small plots to enable the lower sections to have their own house. The change was brought in considering the population of the poor in the City of Joy. The civic body would also allow sanction to a 500 sq feet or even lesser size plots. “There’s no minimum space for sanctions. The process of application for sanction would be made online. We would conduct the inspection after the plinth is done so that work is not obstructed,” said the mayor.

Notably, not only new constructions, the KMC is now also emphasising on regularising illegal constructions in colony or bustee areas. For this, the civic body has reduced the fees drastically. For already constructed illegal buildings the KMC has brought the existing regularisation fees of about Rs 3.27 lakh for around three cottah land to Rs 42,000. However, submitting a structural stability certificate has been made mandatory for obtaining the regularisation.
