Kolkata: A five-year-old boy, who was found wandering on the streets of Salt Lake, was rescued by locals and reunited with parents with the help of the local councillor and police on Sunday. He was reunited with his family in about two hours of getting lost.
According to officials, the child came with his family to attend a ‘shraddh' ceremony at Netaji Club in Duttabad. At some point during the event, he slipped out unnoticed and walked nearly 700 metres to the Laboni bus stand.
Local shopkeepers noticed the boy crying and appearing disoriented. A tea shop owner offered him a seat at her stall and contacted local councillor Alo Roy Dutta. "A tea seller called me up as I informed the Bidhannagar South PS. The officers immediately set out looking for the boy's family and were able to locate them in less than two hours. We are thankful that the boy could be returned to his parents safely," Dutta said. The parents were found at the ‘shraddh' venue.
