  • The district police today launched two coaching centres for graduate tribal students, inaugurated by state animal resources minister Swapan Debnath.

Each centre will accommodate 90 tribal students, with expert teachers providing guidance to job aspirants. Superintendent of Police, East Burdwan, Sayak Das, said: “In the first phase, 30 girls and 60 boys have been shortlisted from 280 applications.” The centres have been set up at opposite ends of the district — in Memari and Guskara civic towns.

Debnath said: “Many students enrol, but some drop out from time to time. I will advise the police to send civic police volunteers to the homes of irregular students to motivate them to attend classes.”
