• Metro to increase services of 3 newer networks from Monday

  • In what comes as good news for Metro commuters, the authorities have decided to increase the number of services of three newer networks from Monday.

    According to Kolkata Metro Railway, from 11 August increased services would be operated in Green Line-1, Green Line-2 and Purple Line to cater to the demand from commuters. In addition to the increased number of services, service hours along with the timing of the first metro in Green Line I and Green line II have also been changed. In Purple Line the timings of the first and last services have been changed.

    As per the new schedule, the first services from Sealdah to Salt Lake Sector V would be run at 6.35 instead of 6.55 a.m. while that from Salt Lake Sector V to Sealdah would be run at 6.40 a.m. instead of 7 a.m.

    As learnt, in Green Line-I, a total of 108 services would be operated instead of the present 106 runs that operated daily from Monday to Saturday while the service hours on this corridor would be increased to 6.35 a.m. to 10 p.m. instead of 6.55 a.m. to 10 p.m. Likewise in Green Line-II, 134 services would be operated in place of the present 130 being operated daily from Monday to Saturday. The service hours on this corridor are also going to be increased to 6.30 a.m. to 9.53 p.m. instead of 7 a.m. to 9.53 p.m.

    In Purple Line, 80 services are to be operated instead of 72 that are being operated daily from Monday to Friday .The service hours on this corridor have also been increased to 6.50 a.m. to 9.14 p.m. instead of 7.57 a.m. to 8.32 p.m. The first service in this stretch would be run at 6.50 a.m. from Joka to Majerhat instead of 8 a.m. and at 7.14 a.m. from Majerhat to Joka instead of 7.57 a.m. As informed by the city metro office, the last service would be operated at 8.36 pm from Joka to Majerhat instead of 8.15 p.m. and at 8.57 p.m. from Majerhat to Joka instead of 8.15 p.m.
