TMC panchayat pradhan’s son shot dead in Cooch Behar

Jalpaiguri: The son of a Trinamool panchayat pradhan was shot dead in Cooch Behar on Saturday, reports Pinak Priya Bhattacharya.
Sanjit Roy, alias Amar (35), had gone to a weekly market in Pundibari when bike-borne miscreants shot him from point-blank range at 4pm. Sanjit's mother Kuntala is the pradhan of Dawaguri panchayat, on the outskirts of Cooch Behar town.
Sanjit was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared ‘brought dead'. His driver also sustained a bullet injury, but he is out of danger.
TMC minister Udayan Guha claimed BJP was carrying out attacks on their men to create an atmosphere of fear ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. BJP, however, rubbished the allegation, claiming that the murder was a result of TMC's internal feud.
