40-yr-old dies after ‘dowry abuse’, husband arrested

Kolkata: A 40-year-old woman from Entally died of her injuries after allegedly being subjected to mental and physical abuse by her husband and her in-laws. A case pertaining to dowry torture, cruelty by husband, and causing death by negligence was registered at Entally PS, and her husband was arrested.
The complaint was lodged by Arpita Mondal — a relative of deceased Aleya Bhawal — alleging Aleya endured abuse from her husband Arindam and his accomplices. The abuse reportedly led to fever and breathing difficulty on Tuesday. She was treated at NRS Medical College but had to be admitted to Apollo Hospitals on Wednesday, where she died at 9.35 am, said an officer. tnn
