Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Wednesday directed that no coercive steps could be taken against BJP neta Mithun Chakraborty until Sept 10 in a case related to the non-payment of dues for work at a hotel project. The court ordered police to produce the case diary on Sept 3.
A criminal case against Chakraborty was registered under sections 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), 318(4) (cheating), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of BNS at Chitpur PS on Jan 5.
Chakraborty contended that the FIR stemmed from a commercial dispute. His counsel claimed that the complainant, a woman, undertook a hotel project, and the allegations were primarily related to the non-payment of dues for extra work that had been executed.
