Congress urges Haryana guv to protect Bengali speakers

Kolkata: Alarmed by incidents of alleged harassment of Bengali speakers and migrant workers in Haryana, Bengal Congress president Suvankar Sarkar sent a letter to the state's newly appointed governor, Asim Ghosh, on Wednesday, urging him to take steps to "uphold the honour of the Bengali language and people from Bengal". "Recently, incidents of harassment and ill-treatment of Bengali-speaking residents and migrant workers from Bengal by the authorities have surfaced in Panipat, Haryana, and several other places," wrote Sarkar, adding, "As the constitutional head of Haryana, we hope you will take appropriate action on this matter.
