Kolkata: Six Kolkata residents lost more than Rs 1 crore to online frauds this weekend, said cops. Rahul Kumar Poddar from Narayanpur, was defrauded of Rs 10 lakh after being added to a WhatsApp investment group. Suraj Yadav, a resident of Keshab Chandra Sen Street, reported losing Rs 15 lakh to Shauryadeep Ray, who allegedly ran a crypto-based marketing scheme promising high returns. A Behala woman lost Rs 23.8 lakh to fraudsters who posed as representatives of an asset management company. Three others lost Rs 53.8 lakh to similar online scams. Police have advised residents to exercise caution while making online investments. tnn
