  • The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) convened its central working committee meeting in Siliguri on Saturday, marking a crucial two-day session aimed at shaping future academic, social, and cultural strategies.

Delegates from across India attended the meet to share regional insights and formulate an action plan addressing key national concerns—including educational reforms, youth leadership, and nation-building through student involvement.

In the lead-up to the event, ABVP held large-scale youth gatherings across Cooch Behar, Raiganj, Malda, and Kolkata, highlighting pressing issues such as Bangladeshi infiltration, the deteriorating education system, rising unemployment, campus violence, and increasing threats to women’s safety. Reports from these programmes will feed into the committee’s strategy discussions.

ABVP national general secretary Dr Virendra Singh Solanki said: “The situation in West Bengal is a serious challenge to democratic values. Bangladeshi infiltration, growing insecurity among women, rampant corruption, and the collapse of the education system are not only hindering the state’s progress but also affecting the nation as a whole.”

He added that the Siliguri meeting has chalked out a comprehensive roadmap to confront these issues and reaffirm ABVP’s commitment to building a strong, safe, and self-reliant India driven by empowered youth.
