  • A postgraduate trainee with the Burdwan Medical College was accused of forcing physical relations with a girl from Bankura.

The victim initially had lodged a complaint with the Chhatna police station in Bankura on 16 July in which she complained that Chiranjit Mondal, a PGT, had invited her to his hostel room on 6 July where he’d forced her for the physical relationship promising to marry her. The PGT and the victim girl were Facebook friends and had grown intimacy through personal inbox chatting. Chiranjit hails from Panchur locality in Sarenga PS area in Bankura.

The girl complained that after the 6 July Chiranjit started avoiding him and finally denied to take her responsibility, which forced her to lodge the complaint against the PGT. After the Chhatna PS forwarded the complaint, the Burdwan PS then registered a fresh complaint against Chiranjit and the medical college authorities were informed about the charges today. Dr Mousumi Banerjee, principal, BMC, said that the matter was under police investigation and the College administration has set to cooperate with the police on this ‘sensitive’ matter.
