• Nandan to screen Uttam retrospective

  • A 10-day retrospective of Uttam Kumar films will be held in Nandan to observe the 46th death anniversary of the matinee idol.

    Uttam Kumar died on 24 July, 1980 at the age of 54 years. The retrospective will be organised by Shilpi Sangsad, set up by Uttam Kumar to support financially-challenged people working in Tollywood.

    The retrospective will start with a popular film, Saptapadi starring Uttam and Suchitra Sen at Nandan 1 at 3 p.m. This will be followed by Harano Sur at 6 p.m. in Nandan 1, starring Uttam and Suchitra and Chabi Biswas.

    On 25 July, two films will be shown. At 3 p.m. Chiriyakhana, directed by Satyajit Ray will be screened at Nandan 2. This will be followed by Deyaneya at 6 p.m. starring Uttam Kumar and Tanuja, Pahari Sanyal and Kamal Mitra.

    On 26 July at Nandan 2, Memsaheb will be screened at 3 p.m. starring Uttam Kumar and Aparna Sen. This will be followed by Sare Chuattor, starring Uttam Kumar, Suchitra Sen, Bhanu Banerjee, and others at 6 p.m.

    On 27 July, Sabyasachi, starring Uttam Kumar and Supriya Debi will be screened in Nandan 2 at 3 p.m, followed by Shilpi at 6 p.m. at Nandan 2.

    On 28 July, Mouchak, starring Uttam, Sabitri Chatterjee, Ranjit Mullick and Mithu Mukherjee will be screened in Nandan 2 at 3 p.m. and this will be followed by Ami Se O Sakha, starring Uttam Kumar, Kaberi Basu, Anil Chatterjee at 6 p.m. at Nandan 2.

    Agni Pariksha, starring Uttam, Suchitra Sen will be screened at Nandan 2 on 29 July and this will be followed by Basu Paribar at 6 p.m.

    Sagarika, starring Uttam and Suchitra will be screened in Nandan 2 at 3 p.m. and this will be followed by Ban Palashir Padabali on 30 July.

    On 31 July, Nagar Darpane, starring Uttam with Kaberi Basu will be screened at Nandan 2 at 3 p.m. and this will be followed by Dui Prithibi, starring Uttam Kumar, Supriya Devi and Victor Banerjee at 6 p.m.
