  • On the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, a unique initiative combining environmental responsibility with a heartfelt tribute to mothers. This campaign was inaugurated on 5 June, with the planting of a peepal tree by the Prime Minister at Buddha Jayanti Park in Delhi.

The state government, concerned about the environment, is observing Aranya Saptaha (forest week) as an annual event from 14-20 July with the main objective of promoting environmental awareness and tree plantation.

It’s a week-long initiative where various organisations, including the forest department, NGOs, and educational institutions, actively participate in tree plantation drives.

The primary goal is to encourage environmental sustainability by increasing green cover and promoting the importance of trees.

The week features tree planting events, distribution of saplings, seminars, workshops, and rallies to educate the public about the benefits of trees and the environment.

Aranya Saptaha actively engages communities, including schools, colleges, and local residents, in tree planting and other environmental initiatives.

On the occasion, the Balagarh panchayat samiti sabhapati, khaddo karmadhyak handed over tree saplings in large numbers to the volunteers of National Service Scheme.

The principal of the college said, the National Service Scheme volunteers of the college are observing both the central government and state government campaigns towards afforestation for a cleaner and healthy environment. Students were given the responsibility to plant saplings in the locality and neighbourhood.
