• State to hold business industry conclave post Pujas

  • In a bid to streamline industrialisation and accelerate growth in the state, the state government today announced that it would organise a Business Industry Conclave just after the Durga Pujas.

    Announcing this at a press conference at the state secretariat at Nabanna today, Amit Mitra, the former finance minister and now the chief economic adviser to the chief minister, said that the synergy committee, formed to give clearance to various business proposals in the state which met at Nabanna today, in a resolution decided to organise a “Business Industry conclave in the state sometime in November just after the Pujas.

    Dwelling on the issue, Mr Mitra further said that the decision to organise the conclave on industries was taken in consultation with the chief minister, Mamata Banerjee mainly in a bid to accelerate growth of industries in the state. The synergy committee had so far given clearance to 3,165 business proposals in the state.

    Adding further, the chief economic adviser to the chief minister said that the priorities and thrust had been given to real estate, information technology, food processing and tourism.

    Mr Mitra said that the resolution had also weighed in the pros and cons, utility and geographical location and other features of businesses and industries that would create employment opportunities before clearing the proposals.

    The outcome of which, claimed the former finance minister was that it was decided that areas like, steel, jems and jewellery, artificial intelligence, semiconductor, shrimp export, fish and poultry production, religious and cultural tourism centres, leather, textile and handloom, treatment equipments and medicine formed the core areas that would draw further focus in the days to come.
