Kolkata: The gap between the maximum and minimum temperatures narrowed to just two degrees on a cloudy Sunday as the city received sporadic drizzles. While the maximum reached 30.2°C, the minimum was 28.2°C. With the rain set to intensify and become more frequent from Tuesday, the maximum could slide to 29°C on Monday, the Met office said.Kolkata received 2.6 mm of rainfall on Sunday. The showers may intensify from Tuesday as a cyclonic circulation takes shape over Bay of Bengal. "We expect heavier and more consistent rain in Kolkata and south Bengal on June 24 and 25. Until then, it will remain cloudy but generally humid," the Met office added.Monsoon entered Kolkata and most parts of south Bengal last Tuesday after a brief delay. Though the official date for monsoon onset in south Bengal is between June 10 and 15, monsoon currents stalled, leading to the delay. tnn
