BJP man’s body found hanging, family cries ‘murder’

Goghat (Hooghly): The body of a BJP mandal minority cell president was found hanging in his Goghat home on Saturday, with his hands tied. Sheikh Bakibullah's family alleged murder, and BJP workers protested at the local police station, demanding the culprits be arrested. Sources said a suicide note had been found, but cops didn't confirm this. Police said the body had been sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.After Bakibullah's body was found hanging, his kin refused to let cops take the body. BJP MLA Biman Ghosh and BJP's Arambagh district unit president Sushanta Bera reached the spot, put the body on the Arambag-Kamarpukur road and blocked it for some time. A large police team went to the spot and brought the situation under control.Bakibullah's relative Sheikh Badrul Alam said thet he had spoken to the former on Friday night and he planned to leave for Saudi Arabia for work in two days. However, when Alam called at 12.40 am, Bakibullah didn't respond.TMC Goghat block president Sanchit Pakhira said: "Any death is unfortunate, regardless of the party affiliation. The police are investigating the matter, and Trinamool always stands by people in times of trouble."Party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said: "When truth comes out, these very people (the protesters) will have something else to say. We have seen BJP doing politics with suicides in north Bengaland Cossipore."
