123 Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Thursday convicted seven lawyers for their involvement in the heckling of a Bongaon judge on the court premises on April 5, 2024.A division bench of Justice Debangsu Basak and Justice Md Shabbar Rashidi, after convicting the lawyers, did not pass any punitive order against them.The division bench ordered that the HC administration would take appropriate action against the convicted lawyers if such an incident recurred. In that case, the HC administration would tag the new complaint with the present case and take action.The division bench took cognisance suo motu of the complaint made by the district judge to the registrar general of the Calcutta High Court immediately after the incident, stating that judge Soma Chakraborty was heckled by lawyers in the court.
