BJP worker attacks party booth prez in MLA’s house

12 Kolkata: A BJP booth president was attacked with a sharp weapon allegedly by a fellow party member inside the residence of party legislator Swapan Majumdar in Bongaon on Saturday afternoon. The victim, Ramprasad Sikdar, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Bongaon Hospital. The accused, Palash Dhani, is on the run.Police said Sikdar and Dhani had a long-standing dispute, and they had come to the MLA's residence in hopes of mediation. Eyewitnesses said that Sikdar was initially caught and assaulted by locals after the attack, but he managed to flee .Swapan Majumdar told reporters, "I was asleep when the incident happened. I rushed downstairs after hearing a commotion. This is deeply shocking." He said there was no political angle to the incident. "I demand strict action against the accused," he said.Local Trinamool Congress netas also said that the incident appeared to have arisen from personal enmity.
