CBI trying to bury case under political, cash pressure: RG Kar victim’s parents

12 Kolkata: Parents of the 2nd-year RG Kar PGT doctor raped and murdered last Aug accused CBI of attempting to bury the case under political and monetary influence on Saturday. Demanding a fair probe, they called for a fresh round of protests.The victim's father told TOI: "CBI has been sold out. They are trying to suppress the investigation and cover up the matter in exchange for money. They know everything... several persons were involved in my daughter's murder." He also claimed that CBI knew how and where the crime was committed but the perpetrators were still roaming free. "CBI has been compromised, the investigation is being suppressed," he said.The mother of the victim said, "Corruption is rampant at RG Kar. My daughter was murdered because she refused to pay."Reacting to this, Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said Kolkata Police was on the right track with the probe when the victim's family demanded a CBI probe. "There was no need for CBI. They went to the court seeking CBI probe and now they are unhappy with the agency, saying it has been acting in a dubious manner," Ghosh said.At Sodepur, around 2km away from the victim's residence, some doctors, students and locals organised a street corner meeting on Saturday where they called for a widespread movement from Aug 9 if justice was not served.
