Kolkata: A domestic help in Cossipore is under scrutiny after allegedly stealing a valuable diamond-fitted gold ring worth lakhs. However, she claimed she mistook it for costume jewellery, leaving authorities with limited evidence to pursue criminal charges.Anamika Shaw (25) from Gopi Mondal Lane said her ring, a family heirloom, went missing after she left it on her kitchen table on May 27. The maid, Joshna, admitted to finding it but said she threw it into the dustbin, thinking it was an imitation ring. The dustbin was later emptied at the local dumping area. "The maid's explanation of disposing the valuable item without informing anyone seems suspicious," Shaw told cops.
