Kolkata: Diamond Harbour cops apprehended a minor who allegedly threatened and abused a woman online after she praised Operation Sindoor on social media. The minor was caught near Cuttack, Odisha.The suspect allegedly created a fake account to harass the woman, a homemaker from Falta who posted a message celebrating India's military success in Operation Sindoor. Additional superintendent of police Mithun Kumar De said the accused, who is on the verge of adulthood, is being treated as a minor. The woman had filed a formal complaint with Diamond Harbour district superintendent of police after receiving threatening and obscene comments. She also documented the threats through screenshots, which she shared on social media. "I demand appropriate action against the perpetrator," the woman said. Officers said it took time to track down the accused through the fake account. The minor was brought to Diamond Harbour on a transit remand. The incident has raised concerns about online safety, with local activists demanding stricter monitoring and swift action against cyber harassment.
