• Khagragarh case: NIA summonses to Cong functionary & e-rickshaw driver

  • 12 Behrampore: More than a decade after its probe into the 2014 Khagragarh blast case, NIA on Monday sent summonses to a Congress functionary and a toto driver, both from Murshidabad, asking them to appear before the central investigating agency.Schoolteacher and Congress functionary Abdul Jabbar and Aziz, the driver, have been told to be present at NIA's New Town office on Tuesday. Sources said the agency found some links between the two individuals and the accused.While trial has started in the case, NIA sources said Jabbar and Aziz were crucial for verifying some testimonies of the accused. One of the accused allegedly came to Murshidabad on an invite and met Jabbar there, a source said.Jabbar, a primary school teacher in Sagarpara, said: "I was asked to appear at the police station on Monday. They handed me the NIA notice. I will be present but I am not sure why the agency asked me to appear it."Beldanga resident Aziz said he would attend the summons, adding: "I am clueless why NIA wants to question me."On Oct 2, 2014, two people were killed and another injured in a bomb explosion in a rented house at Khagragarh, under Burdwan PS. It was later revealed that the deceased and others present in the house were members of Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).They were engaged in preparing bombs, ammunition, maintaining hideouts and organising terrorist training camps. They were planning to organise terrorist attacks in different parts of India and Bangladesh.
