Kolkata: Two traffic cops were physically assaulted while enforcing parking regulations outside Sealdah railway station on Wednesday, leading to the arrest of two suspects, Md Faizan and Md Rehan.A female civic volunteer on duty was also allegedly molested by the accused. The cops were attacked after asking an app taxi to move from the restricted area.The incident occurred around 4:20 pm on Thursday when home guard Debabrata Dhar and his colleagues were monitoring the no-parking zone near the station's fountain area under a traffic sergeant, Dipankar Das, attached to Sealdah Traffic Guard. According to the police report, Faizan and Rehan began to argue when the app cab they hailed was asked to leave the no-parking zone. The situation escalated into violence. "They started hurling abuses and threatened to get us fired," said Dhar, who suffered injuries and received primary treatment at NRS Medical College and Hospital. Home guard Sankar Halder was also attacked.
