Kolkata: Congress and JMM on Thursday joined actor-director Prakash Raj and YouTuber Dhruv Rathee to take aim at BJP on social media on Thursday, asking why it had instigated false complaints in Sandeshkhali. Pawan Khera, chairman of AICC’s media and publicity department, posted: “There were hundreds of debates on the direction of the ruling party on Sandeshkhali. Now that the complainant has exposed the role of the BJP, will this be debated too?”
JMM, too, shared a link of a popular news channel that has often been accused by the opposition of being soft on the party in office. “The best friend has also started counter attacking. The veil of lies has started falling, the media now wants freedom from the dictator,” the post read.
“What a shame... How low will this Supreme Leader and his party stoop down to win an Election ?... Dirtiest politics,” Raj said on X with his popular hashtag #justasking, reposting a video of a national news channel reporting on a woman in Sandeshkhali claiming that BJP had forced her to sign a blank piece of paper and file a false rape complaint.
Like Raj, who has been vocal against BJP and PM Modi on several occasions, Rathee also made a post on X criticising BJP. “All the fake propaganda is falling down one by one,” he wrote on X.
TOI had reported on Thursday that one of the three women who lodged complaints said that she had not faced sexual assault. The woman lodged a separate complaint on Wednesday at Sandeshkhali police station and told the media that she was facing threats and being ostracised because she wanted to withdraw the rape complaint.
