Kolkata: A 23-year-old helmetless biker died after his two-wheeler skidded on Lake Gardens flyover and his head rammed against the concrete sidewall of the flyover on the eastern slope around 5 am on Sunday.
The pillion rider suffered multiple injuries and is in hospital.
Police said Ronit Samaddar, a resident of Haridevpur, was riding the two-wheeler at a very high speed with Samrat Gayen (19) from the same locality when the accident happened.Police suspect he had lost at a sharp right turn. None of them had a helmet on.
“When we reached the spot, we found the youth unconscious and bleeding from his head. The other youth was injured in both legs, hands and ribs,” said a senior officer of Kolkata Police.
Such was the impact of the crash that the bike was found several feet away. “It seems that the youth, moving at a high speed, failed to judge the turning radius at the bend,” the officer said.
