Kolkata: A 22-year-old “devotee” was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stealing a 450-year-old Krishna idol made of black stone from a Khardah temple on Saturday.
Accused Shom Das, “a Krishna devotee”, confessed to have committed the crime. Das claimed that he had stolen the idol to teach the priest a lesson as he was denied a glimpse of the idol several times by him.The idol was also recovered from Das’Rahara home, said Barrackpore commissioner Alok Rajoria. tnn
