• Tamang extends support to BJP, expelled from Cong

  • SILIGURI: General secretary of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) and the "in-charge of the hills", Binay Tamang, was expelled by Congress on Tuesday after he extended support to BJP's Darjeeling candidate Raju Bista. Tamang had been a close aide of Bimal Gurung. He then defected to TMC and then again to Congress. "No one has influenced me to take this decision.I am not in contact with anyone either," Tamang said.

    "I extend my sincere support to the BJP candidate from Darjeeling, Raju Bista, for the constitutional security and justice for the people of Darjeeling Hills, Siliguri Terai and Dooars. I further request all my respected fellow citizens here, my associates, supporters, well-wishers, friends, relatives and families to cast their votes for the BJP," said Tamang.
