Ahead of LS polls, Edwards-led Hamro Party joins INDIA bloc

Siliguri: Ahead of Lok Sabha polls in the Hills, Ajoy Edwards-led Hamro Party has joined the INDIA bloc, reports Roshan Gupta.
With Edwards joining INDIA, speculations are rife that Congress may field ‘Bhumiputra’ Munish Tamang from the constituency. Edwards has been participating in various Congress events of late, including the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
“Today we are formally joining the INDIA alliance; this is for the benefit for the people in the Hills.BJP has won the seat for thrice but even after 15 years nothing has been done despite our sacrifices,” Edwards said.
He also requested Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Bimal Gurung to support Congress in the Lok Sabha elections.
