  • Kolkata: March is likely to bow out with one last thundershower by Saturday, mimicking a pre-monsoon nor’wester accompanied by mild rainfall. The light rain, however, is unlikely to deter either the maximum or the minimum temperatures from rising by at least two notches by Sunday.

The maximum may climb to 36°C by Sunday from 34.1°C on Thursday while the minimum may touch 28°C by Sunday from 26.8°C on Thursday.“Prolonged local heating has been drawing moisture from the Bay into the coast, causing the conditions for the potential downpour. At the moment, there is no major weather system developing near the coast,” said RMC director G K Das.

Friday is likely to be partly cloudy, with a minor chance of a thundershower in the evening. The maximum and minimum are likely to be close to 35°C and 26°C respectively.
